When you write content for blogs or send out informational emails to prospects and clients, do you compel your readers with valuable content, or bore them with overly self-promotional information? If you want more people reading your content, passing it along to others, and actually looking forward to hearing from you, here are some areas you can get started.
Make your blog title or subject line pop. It is often easier to offer a black and white title like, “Federal Employment Tax Act.” But remember, your readers are being bombarded every day with others trying to pull them in to read their content. Give them a reason to read yours. Need help creating standout titles? Check out a powerful tool that will help you be more compelling AND searchable: www.google.com/trends. Be where people are interested…and searching!
Incorporate trending topics into your content (tastefully). Dow, Federal Reserve, and PGA Championship are all “hot trending words” this week being searched for on Google. That means people are talking about these topics, searching for them, and passing on their findings to others. You can plug in your own search words and potential blog titles and see where they rank, too. The hotter the words are, the more you will be found. And you can use these words as keywords on your website that will increase searchability of your site. Basically, talk about the things that people are buzzing about.
Take the time to make your content worth reading. If you don’t make it interesting or compelling, it may not be worth the time you spent to create it, post it, or send it out.
